Soundwaves Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Q: Could I Hire My Friend to DJ My Wedding And Save Some Money?
A: Yes, you could. Unless your friend is a professional DJ, it will be a disaster! It would be the same as if you tried to do your own dental work. A DJ is a professional that knows through experience which songs to play and at the right time to keep your dance floor full with all the guests having a great time! This only comes from training and years of experience of performing at weddings and an extensive knowledge of music and equipment to make a successful event. There are thousands of brides and grooms who thought they could just get a friend, family member or co-worker to to play cd’s at their wedding or special event and regret not hiring a professional DJ! After all the time, effort and expense you put into planning your event, is it really worth taking the risk to save some money. Entertainment is the most important factor in the success of your event! Don’t risk your “Once In A Lifetime” event to a “Once In A While” amateur DJ!
2. Q: Do you have a Payment Plan?
A: Yes! I know how much strain a wedding can put on your finances. Once the initial Deposit is paid, you may make payments at any time on the remaining balance (I will send you a receipt for each payment). Think of it as putting your DJ on layaway! Most people book a year in advance and have their account paid in full by their Event Date.
3. Q: When is the Final Balance Due?
A: I require the Final Payment 14 days before your Event Date. This eliminates the need for you to bring your checkbook on your wedding day! Most clients pay their final balance at our final consultation.
4. Q: Do you meet with us before the wedding?
A: Yes, just call and schedule an appointment about 4 to 6 weeks before your date. At this time we can finalize the details for your special day (pronunciations of Bridal Party names, Order of events, Song Selection, etc…)
5. Q: Do we pick all the songs that we want played?
A: I recommend that you pick about 30 to 40 songs you like or songs you think your guests will like as well. I will use your “customized music list” as well as 20 years of experience to “read” and “work” the crowd, to keep your guests dancing and having a great time. This will insure the success of your Dream Celebration.
6. Q: What if we have certain songs we don’t want played?
A: That’s fine. Just make a list of the songs or styles of music that you prefer Not to be played. If a guest asks for a song on the “no list”, I’ll politely explain that “the Bride and Groom don’t want it played on their Special Day! How about a different choice?”
7. Q: Can Guests make requests? Will they be played?
A: Yes and yes! In fact, I encourage guests to make requests during the Event. All of our Music Libraries are computerized and we put our “Master Songbook” on the table for your guests to browse thru. People love to hear their requests played and it simply makes for a more Festive Party to dance to the music you enjoy!
8. Q: Can we customize or personalize the Order of Events for our Reception?
A: Certainly! You are the stars of the show. I will advise you as to the “normal” Reception Format and Traditions and let you make the final call.
9. Q: Do you offer any Discounted Rates?
A: Discounted rates for January, March & November weddings, Friday and Sunday weddings or Saturday weddings ending before 4pm. Please call for discounted price quote.
10.Q: When does our Contracted Time start?
A: When your Guests start arriving at your Reception site!
11. Q: Will you keep the music at an appropriate level?
A: Yes! A professional DJ knows to keep the volume at an appropriate level for your guests, especially during the cocktail/social hour and during dinner.
12. Q: Do you do more than play music?
A: Yes, your DJ will help coordinate the timing of events with the caterer, photographer, videographer, and you. The DJ will handle all announcements and interact with your guests to get them involved.

Wow! Were we ever impressed with Soundwaves Entertainment! They were professionals all the way. Our DJ, Craig, did a fantastic job of emceeing the event. The DJ's are really the people that you look to in order to organize the reception event and guide you through the various dances, events, and so on! I liked the wide range of song selections that Soundwaves provided. For us, it was important to have someone who was more laidback and less outlandish and crazy. We definitely had that. Another major thing that I appreciated was that Soundwaves made sure to get everyone's names right who was in the wedding party. At a recent wedding, I had to correct a DJ before they said the bride and groom's last name wrong! They really knew everyone's name. It made it feel so personable! People were up dancing until the very last song! It was a great time, for sure.

I wanted to write to you sooner, but we have been busy with work and relocating. We were very pleased with the disc jockey services that you provided at our reception. Apparently, Lora’s sister was impressed too since she has selected you for her reception. We liked the mix of music that you provided. We also liked your handling of the events and keeping the evening flowing. This was a great concern to us since we had been to some weddings where the disc jockey seemed to take over the “show”. One of the reasons that we selected you over some of the “disc jockey” groups is that we were able to meet the person that would be providing the service beforehand. Also, I wanted to thank you for staying the extra hour.
We have had a chance to play the video for ourselves and family. Daneta captured a lot of crazy moments. We were very pleased with the tapes. It seems she covered just about everything and the quality was good. We were very glad that we had the reception videotaped. One thing we noticed by the time stamp on the tape is that Daneta didn’t take much of a break. Again, super job and thanks.
