Your wedding day is one of the most important days
of your life and successful events do not "just occur"; they are carefully
planned and well coordinated. For that reason, Soundwaves Entertainment has
been the most trusted name in entertainment in Central Pa. for over 25
years. We
will meet with you weeks in advance and go over every detail of your wedding
day. We will also work closely with your photographer, videographer,
and caterer in order to insure that your reception flows smoothly. Your
wedding day will be everything you dreamed it would be. Never Hire a DJ Blind!!! You would never buy a
car without taking it for a test drive or buy a house site unseen.
Your Reception is an equally important investment! After all, you only
have one special day and only one chance to hire the right DJ! Hiring
the wrong DJ can ruin your big day and all the time and effort you have put
into planning it. We take pride in our work and have videos on our website
to demonstrate what we do. Some other companies claim they have great D.J.'s but have no videos to prove it. They just want you to "take
their word for it". Could it be they are not confident in the quality
of service they offer and are afraid to post videos on their website? Please take the time to view our Wedding Video to see how
we can make your reception a Fun, Successful and memorable affair that your
guests will be talking and raving about long after the party is over!!!

In a recent survey of 5,000 wedding guests who attended at least one wedding reception in the past year, only 5% could remember what the had to eat for the meal. Only 5% more could remember how the cake was decorated or the type of flowers used for decorations. Only 10% remembered the name of the venue where the event was held. When asked if they had a Good Time at the reception, 80% of the guests surveyed commented on whether or not they had fun and enjoyed themselves.
80% Of The Success Of Your Reception Depends On Selecting The Right Entertainment. The right entertainment is the key to a successful and memorable wedding reception. Don't trust your "Once in a Lifetime" event to a "Once in a While" DJ!!!
We booked Chris Pyle from Soundwaves as our wedding DJ. He did a wonderful job. Not only was he really flexible with allowing us to play a large part in choosing the music we wanted at the reception, he did a wonderful job varying up our playlist. He also briefly M.C.'d and took extra care to make sure that he pronounced everyone's name correctly, etc. The dance floor was packed almost immediately after we cut the cake (which we actually did before dinner). Our guests complimented the wide variety of music. Even the dinner music was done perfectly. My husband and our families are planning on using him if we ever need a DJ again.
"Hiring a DJ is not like shopping around for the lowest gas prices or doing a price comparison on the same identical product between two different retail stores. In both cases you will get the exact same product in the end but at a cheaper price at one than the other. When you hire a service professional you will not get the exact same product or level of service from one company to another. If you are shopping for the lowest price, chances are you will get what you pay for (a low level of service). In the service industry the lowest rates generally dictate that the company is new and has not yet established a reputation as a reputable company. You are taking a big risk by hiring them and not knowing what you will receive in the end. Sure, you will save some money but is the savings worth the sacrifice on the quality or level of service that you receive? After all you only have one wedding day and one wedding reception. You only have one chance to select the right DJ that will make your event a successful and memorable affair. Selecting the wrong DJ or making your decision based solely on finding the lowest price DJ can have disastrous consequences and ruin your once in a lifetime event and completely obliterate the perfect wedding day that you have envisioned and dreamed of during your last twelve months of planning. If you genuinely care about the success of your wedding reception and are looking for a DJ that is truly a professional in every sense of the word, has good organizational skills, pays attention to detail, is as enthusiastic and passionate about the success of your reception as you are, loves people, and performs at weddings every weekend for a living and not just as a weekend hobby, then you have found the right DJ for your reception.
Dear Chris, Ed and I would like to thank you very much for your professionalism as a DJ at the wedding of our daughter Jennifer in September at the Hanover Country Club. You helped make their day very special and memorable and for that, we want to send a very big Thank You! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Everything came together so nicely. It was a story book wedding and reception. When Jennifer and Jess look back on this day, they will have such wonderful memories and your help made it all possible. We will certainly recommend you to anyone that we know who may be getting married in the future. Again, thank you for a day that none of us will ever forget. Special Thanks, Ed and Vera Kress
Could I Hire My Friend to DJ My Wedding Reception and Save Some Money? Yes, you could. Unless your friend is a professional DJ with a minimum of 5 years experience, it will be a disaster! It would be the same as if he tried to do your dental work (Unless he is a professional Dentist). A dentist, doctor, lawyer or a pilot are all trained professionals who have studied and perfected their craft and are very skilled at their chosen profession. You would not ask a taxi driver to fly you to your destination because he does not have a pilot's license and is not qualified to fly a plane. A DJ is a professional that knows through years of experience which songs to play and at the right time to keep your dance floor full with all your guests having a great time! This only comes from training and years of experience of performing at weddings and an extensive knowledge of music, equipment, and public speaking skills to make a successful event. If you decide to hire your friend, he or she will be responsible for properly introducing the wedding party, the co-ordination of all the reception events and knowing how to get the party started and to keep it going for 4-5 hours or longer. There are many things that can go wrong that you might not have even thought about. Unless your DJ friend is a true professional he/she may not have even thought of these small details that can mean the difference between a successful and memorable reception or a wedding nightmare. Imagine this, You arrive at your reception and let the DJ (Your Friend) know that the bridal party has arrived and you are ready to be introduced. Your Friend (The DJ) scrambles to find the list of names that you emailed to him 2 weeks before your big day. He/she grabs the mic and starts announcing the wedding party without even walking out to greet the wedding party and make sure they are lined up in the proper order. After butchering some of your best friend's names and announcing some of them in the wrong order, you shrug it off and hope that all goes well for the rest of the reception. He/she announces your First Dance immediately after you are introduced and half way thru the song, you realize that the photographer is not taking pictures. The photographer, had not arrived yet and was held up in traffic. The DJ (Your Friend) did not notice this or even bother to check before introducing the wedding party and announcing the First Dance. Because of the DJ's lack of experience and inattention to detail, you will never have pictures to cherish of these two very important reception events. Later on, after dinner, when everyone should be up dancing and having fun, you notice that nobody is on the dance floor. You wait patiently and think maybe it's still early, they will dance eventually. An hour goes by and still nobody has danced. Guests have requested songs and they are now making you aware that The DJ (Your Friend) has not played any of the songs they requested. (Your Friend) The DJ, informs you that the only music he has on his IPod are Hip Hop tracks. Your guests have requested a variety of music ranging from Oldies and Disco to Country and Classic Rock and even a Big Band song. Unfortunately, Your Friend (The DJ) was unprepared for such a diverse range of musical tastes. After an hour and a half of unedited Hip Hop tracks with explicit lyrics, your guests start leaving early before the party has even begun. Then you realize that you have not done any of the other reception formalities such as the Father/ Daughter Dance, Bouquet/ Garter Toss or the Dollar Dance. By the time you inform Your Friend (The DJ) that you have not yet done these very important reception events most of your guests have already left and your perfect day has turned into the most disastrous day you never thought could happen! Could I Just use my own Personal iPod to play music for my reception? Of course, you could always bring your own personal iPod and just play your own personal favorites that you downloaded from iTunes. Sure you will save a lot of money this way but who is going to help coordinate the details of your reception and make sure that you didn't forget to do one of your special dances? Who is going to introduce the wedding party? Do you have enough variety to be able to easily entertain music requests from your guests? Who will change the iPod when someone requests a song? Who is going to help "get the party started" after dinner? Who is going to announce your First Dance? See what I mean. If you opt for this money saving route, most likely these responsibilities will end up resting on your shoulders and instead of relaxing and enjoying the greatest day of your life with your family and friends, you will suddenly have become the MC and DJ at your own event! There are thousands of brides and grooms who thought they could just get a friend, family member or co-worker to to play some CD’s or use their I Pod at their wedding or special event and regret not hiring a professional DJ! After all the time, effort and expense you have put into planning your event, is it really worth risking the success of your once in a lifetime event to save a little money. After all, you only have one wedding day and only one chance to hire the right entertainment. Entertainment is the most important factor in the success of your event!

"(c) 2007 James Wellman Photography used with permission" Dear Chris, I just wanted to thank you for the great job you did at our reception. The music can make or break a reception. Your music selection made our special day a very special celebration! Thanks Again, The Saylors
Dear Mr. Pyle, Thank you for meeting with me and my (future) Mother-In -Law in person to discuss my reception. I really enjoyed talking with you and seeing your work. We were very pleased. I think your kindness and willingness to personalize the songs for my fiancé and I will be just perfect for our reception! I appreciated your professionalism and classiness. I am looking forward to our big day. Thank You Again.. Sincerely, Audrey G.
Dear Chris, Thank you so much for providing terrific music for our wedding reception. It was great to see all of our guests and family dancing and having such a great time! We appreciate your professionalism and hard work Sincerely, The Borettis
1. Q: I have a lot of music on my I Pod or Laptop, Can I just use it instead of a DJ? A: Even a person who has a lot of music in their collection, laptop or I Pod does not mean that they know which songs will "Fill" the dance floor and which songs will "Kill" the dance floor. Say they have 5,000 songs in their library. There are 60 minutes in an hour. Most songs average 4 minutes in length. 60 minutes divided by 4 minutes per song = 15 songs per hour. If your reception is 5 hours long, 5 x 15 = 75 songs total that can be played in the allotted time frame. The other 4,925 songs don't matter!!! What makes the difference between hiring a professional DJ and using your friend is that a professional DJ will know exactly which 75 songs out of the 5,000 to play that will match both your desires and the desires of your guests. There is a genuine craft to sequencing these songs in an appealing fashion, entertaining the maximum number of people at any one time (keeping the most people on the dance floor), yet managing a degree of creativity from one event to another to reflect the bride and groom's uniqueness and style. Even a person well versed in pop music does not have the intangible quality of being able to choose songs for an audience beyond their own musical taste or preference Songs like "Cha Cha Slide, Y.M.C.A., Electric Slide, etc.. rarely show up on a personal MP3 player or laptop, as they are not great listening songs, but they're great party songs! A DJ is a professional that knows through years of experience which songs to play and at the right time to keep your dance floor full with all the guests having a great time! This only comes from training and years of experience of performing at weddings and an extensive knowledge of which songs "Work" to make a successful event 2. Q: Do you have a Payment Plan? A: Yes! I know how much strain a wedding can put on your finances. Once the initial Deposit is paid, you may make payments at any time on the remaining balance (I will send you a receipt for each payment made on your account). Think of it as putting your DJ on layaway! Most people book a year in advance and have their account paid in full by their Event Date. This is optional but I offer it for your convenience. 3. Q: When is the Final Balance Due? A: I require the Final Payment 14 days before your Event Date. This eliminates the need for you to bring your checkbook on your wedding day! 4. Q: Do you meet with us before the wedding? A: Yes, just call and schedule an appointment about 4 to 6 weeks before your date. At this time we can finalize the details for your special day (Pronunciations of Bridal Party names, Order of Events, Song Selection, Timeline, Itinerary, etc…) 5. Q: Do we pick all the songs that we want played? A: I recommend that you pick about 30 to 50 songs you like or songs you think your guests will like as well. I will use your “customized music list” as well as 20 years of experience to “read” and “work” the crowd, to keep your guests dancing and having a great time. This will insure the success of your Dream Wedding Celebration. 6. Q: What if we have certain songs we don’t want played? A: That’s fine. Just make a list of the songs or styles of music that you prefer Not to be played. If a guest asks for a song on the “Do Not Play List”, I’ll politely explain that “the Bride and Groom have requested that this particular song not be played on their Special Day! How about a different song choice?” 7. Q: Can my guests make requests? Will they be played? A: Yes and Yes! In fact, I encourage guests to make requests during the event. All of our Music Libraries are computerized and we put our “Master Songbook” on the table for your guests to browse thru. I will try to play their requested songs in a timely manner. People love to hear their requests played and it simply makes for a more Festive Party to dance to the music you enjoy! 8. Q: Can we Customize or Personalize the Order of Events for our Reception? A: Certainly! You are the stars of the show. I will advise you as to the “Normal” Reception Format and Traditions and let you make the final call. 9. Q: Do you offer any Discounted Rates? A: Discounted rates for January, March, August and November weddings, Friday and Sunday weddings any time of year or Saturday weddings ending before 4pm. 10. Q: Do You Help Coordinate the Timing of the different Reception Formalities? A: Yes! I will coordinate the Introductions, Formal Dances, Cake Cutting, Etc. during the reception with your photographer, the caterer or banquet captain, videographer and of course with you first! I will always check with you first to make sure that you are ready and prepared to move on to the next event and I will inform your other vendors as well.

Dear Chris, Mark and I wanted to thank your DJ Rich for providing the music and entertainment for our wedding. We also want to thank you and him for providing the mics at the last minute for the ceremony. Everyone had a great time dancing and listening to the music. Thanks again for suggesting the "Anniversary Dance". It worked so nice. That was the first time I ever saw my grandparents dance!! Thanks again for a great job and for being a party of our special day. Mark and Nancy
Dear Chris Pyle, We wanted to thank you for helping to make our wedding an extra-special event for us. I've received many kudos on the music and your DJ services. You worked hard at making everything run smooth and were very happy with the service you provided. We also appreciate how easy it was working with you, accommodating our special requests and needs. Not just for the music but for other activities like the chocolate fountain. We have enclosed some pictures for you. I just wanted you to see how much fun everyone had, knowing you played a big part in that. We laughed about about the Anniversary Dance when Kim's grandparent's and my church friends were still dancing at 60 years and they both sat down at 61 years. You were very professional, and we will recommend you to others. Thanks again for a great day!
